words to live by 8.27.14 The Last Word! Do you ever think about what you would say to a person, a loved one, a co-worker, a friend if you knew that those words would be the last words you ever got to speak to that person? Relationships are tough and at times we can get on each others nerves. Sometimes our parting comments leave others feeling less than warm and fuzzy. How many times have we had a tough morning and left our spouse or child with words that stung? Psalm 90:12- So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. The phrase number our days expresses the thought of putting in order, arranging the use of, or prioritizing time because none of us know how much time we actually have. We always think that there will be numerous opportunities to get it right, to work things through,or to apologize, but are there really? What words would you choose if they were the last words you would ever speak or the last words someone would ever hear? There are no doubt countless people who leave home or end a telephone conversation with, see you tonight, or have a good day, whats for dinner. Just the routine harmless dialog of family. There are at times angry words such as you get on my nerves, I will never forgive you, I dont need you, I want a divorce, I hate you. Words that can be like a wrecking ball on the side of a building. Then there are those cherished and longed for words such as I love you, I am so proud of you, I cant imagine my life without you, or I value our friendship and am grateful for you. Moses cautions us to use our time wisely and not to take for granted that we have unlimited opportunities to do what is right, to say what we always meant to say, to be a blessing to others and to glorify God. So, remember that your last word to a person could in fact be the last word! Join our mailing list @ vl-ministries.org
