wow... opera SUCKS! Just downloaded and installed Opera 25.. i have to say, while it looks nice, it falls extremely short on crucial features. The ability to migrate data, especially bookmarks is a key feature almost EVERY user will need. Without this key functionality, adoption of this browser will be extremely slow, and limited. If you wish to contend with ANY mainstream browser, you must first, and foremost, make it usable, and make sure that data loss is at a minimum for those switching to your browser. With absolutely NO support for migrating saved user / pass or form data or bookmarks from IE, or Firefox, you essentially eliminate those users from choosing your browser. Adding a folder named Imported Bookmarks to the bookmarks panel is misleading at best, and quite useless since Opera 25 lacks the ability to import or export bookmarks. Once you DO have bookmarks in the bookmarks panel, you have the ability to select bookmarks, which makes no sense, as selecting multiple bookmarks doesnt allow you to manipulate multiple bookmarks. i.e. moving them from one folder to another, editing them in a bulk manor etc. Without this sort of additional functionality, creating, and using a select button serves absolutely NO purpose, and is a waste of memory, HDD space, CPU time, and lines of code. Another peeve i have with opera, is the developers choice to spawn a new process for each and every thread it produces. I.e. for each tab you have an Opera.exe running, so if you have bookmarks panel, and 6 tabs open, you will have a total of 9 Opera.exes running, as well as an operacrashreporter.exe for a grand total of 10 processes running for 1 application. This doesnt include any additional processes that will be created if any of those tabs have pages loaded that use a plugin or extension, such as flash. In which case, you will gain an additional process, as well as the flash player processes for each page using flash. Final critique - Opera is not ready to be a main stream browser, with useless buttons, additional treads and processes for no particular reason other than separation of resources, and extremely inconvenient bookmark, and data management, and manipulation makes this browser somewhat fast once loaded, but extremely feature bland. It is my summation that the only appeal for this browser is the GUI, which of coarse resembles almost every other browser out there now, leaving this browser a DUD. While speed is indeed a good thing, sacrificing crucial features for the sake of non-functional mechanisms, and buttons, and spreading resource usage to processes per thread, makes the browser functional, but extremely lacking.
