wowza.... pretty straight forward here... in the common SAHMs defense... me being one of them. Ive almost felt pressured or obligated to bag on the fact that I do stay at home. I think, deep down, I know that Im severely lucky, but I feel like its bragging to talk well of the fact that I get to stay home. Truth is, its something that was not on option for me. Something that I fought for in the beginning and made sacrifices to maintain. Over the years, Ive taken very minimal part time jobs in the evenings and weekends when our finances needed supplemented. But I refused to allow our household to rely on my income... no matter how big or bow small. That being said, I know that there are Moms out there much more capable than me and have successfully kept a job while raising children, keeping a home and partnering a husband. To them I tip my hat, I also know Moms whove by necessity had to raise children, keep a home and be both the Mom AND the Dad... to those heroes, I say freakin cheers! I guess, this article helped me realize that I dont need to apologize for my chosen role and I dont need to feel pressured to downplay the blessings Ive been given in it. I do have amazing children, who are real, they drive me crazy and my house ebs and flows, with joy and pain, filth and shine, calm and chaos and really... I wouldnt have it any other way!
