yeah, its super white and male-centric... and im not trying to bait anyone by asking this question: but out of north american films that came out in 2014 CAN you name some POC / or women directors / writers who you think deserve this kind of recognition? im happy for Birdmans success (well deserved) and i personally HAVENT seen many 2014 films... but name some names. id like to know. were there many? and i mean were there many or ANY who deserve such an accolade? once again: not trying to bait. im not saying its right... and im not saying there WERENT POC / women etc who deserve to be nominated... i wish there were! i simply didnt really see very many films this year so i personally DONT know... Selma... maybe? was it good though? and by good i mean incredible not good as in passable. is it next level, or just kinda ok serious, well acted, good intentioned... it also came out on dec 25... so does it even count re: the timeline for when the list was thought up? this likely speaks more on the whole system thats in hollywood that excludes male influence than this one particular list itself. part of a bigger issue that transcends this one list you know? the oscars have generally been an old white male crock of shit anyway so w/e BUT i am curious as to your thoughts
