you know the advantage of doing an impossible cycling trip without knowing anything about how impossible it is? or how bad the cycle is. or that you cant cycle 100 kms , let alone 1600 kms on it across mountains , snow and what not... the advantage is this. i didnt know anything about anything relating to cycling or touring {the panniers cost 10 euros , football shoes ( ya, cheapest shoes to cycle in) were 10, trousers were 1, rain jacket was 5 and so on and so forth. newspaper was used generously when it was cold } , except that i deeply deeply wished to cycle across all those places, and despite many breakdowns and interesting experiences, not least of which it rained almost constantly throughout the trip. but here is the thing i learnt of it. i remember that i do not need a fancy or expensive bike to do it. i need a heart that sings and lips that smile. today i know quite a lot about cycling as well as equipment and stuff. fancy gear systems and ratios, what is a good bike, why and such likes. but i remember that it is not the bike per se or the fancy equipment that matters. it is the heart, the smile and the hugs you can share on the way that count. to any and all of my friends i say. pedal on. you will understand what i mean by bliss
