youcaring/pet-expenses/toasty-vivie-s-surgical-fund/235720 We try very hard to be responsible with the money our community entrusts to us. We put forth great effort to make wise choices and spread a dollar as far as we can. That being said, we often also have to make quick choices without all the information on the table up front. Thats what happened yesterday - twice - when we were presented with Toasty and Vivie. Another aspect of who we are and what we do is that we stand by our decisions and commitments. Although the expenses have become far more than we anticipated, we are not going to turn our backs on these two now as long as the vets are confident that the surgeries they need will provide them with a good quality of life. ***UPDATE***After careful consideration, we took Toasty to Cross Lanes, where he will be cared for by Dr. McNeil. Toasty has multiple fractures of his leg, tail, hip, and pelvic region, which will require a surgical skill that is not currently available in our area. Vivie remains hospitalized, and is being treated for shock. After suffering for days with a horrific injury (skin, muscles, and tendons ripped from her leg), her body must stabilize before she can undergo surgical amputation of her leg. Once again, we cannot do this alone. It was once said, Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has. It doesnt take one large donor to make a better life for Toasty and Vivie (though we arent opposed!); it can be done with many small donations by our thoughtful, committed citizens. $3 Thursday. $30 Thursday. $300 Thursday. Call it what you like, but we need our thoughtful, committed citizens to step up today as you always have. We love you guys and hope you know how sincerely we appreciate you! youcaring/pet-expenses/toasty-vivie-s-surgical-fund/235720
