He went on to become a popular and versatile character actor, specializing in Native American roles, something for which he was uniquely suited given his looks and the fact that his wife and their two adopted sons were Native Americans. The ad I posted was both a blessing and curse for Mr. Cody. The ad was powerful and effective and won many awards. When it later became widely known that Mr. Cody was not a Native American, as Sean Connery is not a flying stone head, he came under fire from yahoos of many stripes. He was a proud Italian-American and, as he was born here, a proud native American and someone of whom we should be proud.
