youtu.be/JKCsZc37esU On December 1,1955, Rosa Parks committed a revolutionary act by refusing to give up her seat on the bus to a white man. That caused a ripple effect that is felt to this day. A story that was unknown to me until a few years before my mom died.... In 1942, she and my grandmother took a bus trip from Philly to Florida. My mom was 18 at the time and Im guessing my grandmother was in her 50s. When the bus got to DC, the white driver yelled All you (and he used the N word that I wont glorify by typing it out) get to the back of the bus. My mother stood up and said to my grandmother...Come on, were moving to the back of the bus too, and they did just that. I was awe-struck and asked her what the reaction was to THEIR revolutionary act. The driver said nothing. This was during WWII and there were military personnel on the bus and at every stop, they surrounded my mother and grandmother to protect them from potentially angry and racist white passengers. I guess I come by my social conscience genetically. Bless you, Miss Rosa and anyone else who stands up/sits down for what is right.
