They who make a sacrilegious Communion receive Satan and Jesus Christ into their hearts; Satan that they may let him rule, and Jesus Christ, that they may offer Him in sacrifice as a Victim to Satan. - St. Cyril Before receiving communion, or even before going to Mass, ask the Holy Spirit, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and your Guardian Angel to help you search your soul and see if you have any unconfessed mortal sins. If so, go to confession if you can. Otherwise, make a Spiritual Communion, telling Jesus how much you love Him and want to be able to receive him worthily in Communion again. Then pray and prepare yourself to make a good confession. One cannot, no matter how contrite they may be, receive Communion without first making a good Confession. It is admirable to see people humble enough (& loving enough of Jesuss presence in the Eucharist) to remain seated when they know they have a mortal sin on their soul. If you are living in a state of sin, keep presenting yourself at Mass on Sundays, and keep praying to God that he will help you to change your life to be able to receive Holy Communion again.
