youtu.be/m4UQXGbplOw 23rd Annual Music Awards Concert - Sarasota High School Admirals Jazz Band directed by Andrew J. Wright at the Van Wezel, Sarasota, Florida May 24, 1991. The Admirals last performance while under the direction of Mr. Wright. It is hard to believe this video is more than 23 years old. I was a sophomore at the time, as were most of the band members. I wish we could have had him another couple years. Such great memories. Though I did not pursue music professionally, Mr. Wright nonetheless had a profound impact on my life. Thank you. The original video tape was damaged, so I was not able to convert the first song, A Night In Tunisia. The remaining songs on the video are What Did I have, Misty, Exactly Like You and Sweet Georgia Brown The two vocal arrangements are by Walt Stuart. Most Admiral alums will remember these tunes, as they were likely in the book for a couple of decades. Mr. Wright actually let the band pick the tunes.The band is really cookin on Sweet Georgia Brown. Jen Iker is the female vocalist, Mike McCugh is the male vocalist.Several members of this band are or were successful professional musicians. Enjoy.
