It simply does not work that way in circuit design, less signal path will always prove to be better for lossless audio reproduction and ultra quiet properly designd power supplies will prove to be the best at any price point!!! You can plug your portable devices into the front audio input jack. Also it has a phono preamp switchable to a line level input. After living with this for awhile now I cant imagine getting a bigger bang for the buck. Ive heard many fine kilo buck high end preamps and this one does give some of them in the 3 to 4 thousand dollar range a significant run for their money at the 2100s modest price of $695.00. Richard Schram & John Curl have made some staggering in roads in product development quality & bang for the buck. This equipment can be found in movie studios and recording studios and all else professional!
