youtu.be/zBhm7GcEk6E Just needed to share what I consider, lyrically one of my favorite songs of all time! There are so many things to admire about what was said on this track. He talks about the struggles of being a woman in this society, and the strength that it takes to persevere. I see it every day, I am surrounded from family - friends by some of the strongest women that I will ever know. He also talks about the poverty in this country. We send hundreds of millions of dollars to other countries to fight some war that has very little to do with us. Cities like detroit are struggling just to get their damn water back, and I walk to work and look around at the poverty that I surrounds me. Its sad. It is a struggle every day for people, for different reasons. Some young brothas/sistas grow up with out a father, and it puts such a strain on both the mother and son/ daughter. Its such a hardship because the role of secondary parental figure is lacking in a lot of cases and then you wonder what is the state of this world that people are so easily ready to forego their responsibilities as a parent for whatever reason. Its tough to learn to love and grow when you are surrounded by a system that is not designed to see you achieve. But that does not excuse any dead beats! This song sparks so many thoughts and it reaffirms my goals as a young man that is from the hood. Tupac Shakur was truly an artist of the ages and I remember hearing a quote from him. Just to paraphrase he said if he just challenged just 1 mind to really look at the world differently he would have completed his goal as a rapper. He definitely did with me! This song reminds me to appreciate the strength of the people around me, and the pride of a community that taught me a lot of things, maybe not all good, but I learned.
