youtube/watch?v=4WqvGygi6mI This was a few years back, our very first meeting...good to play with George,as I knew he started in the real jazz era of the 1950s...John Benitez on bass, our first meeting also, from NYC, excellent bassist. Afterwards, we enjoyed a chat as George and spoke in the back-room. About guitar players such as Joe Pass and of course of my buddy, the fine Howard Roberts - he knew I not only worked with Howard in the studios but that we both took lessons from the same teacher, Horace Hatchett who taught most of the jazz-greats out here on the west coast....interesting that Howard was a guitar idol of Bensons...as was Joe Pass (who I published and worked concerts with) also....good stories! Mr. Benson is a fine gentleman, a former bebop Jazz musician from 1950s fantastic talent, and wonderful to hang out with:
