For over 30 years now ... has given me the most wonderful insight to regret. Perhaps listening to these wonderful humans as they were ready to cross over ... Their outpouring of sadness for many of the choices they made ... has been an amazing blessing in controlling my own shadows and knee jerk reactions. How to avoid regret. Over the years, I asked questions of the dying. Here are the top regrets... 1. I wish I wouldnt have been so selfish and mean with others .... and more giving toward my family and community. I wish I would have listened, helped more rather than ignored, judged and dismissed people. 2. I wish I would have allowed myself to be happier. 3. I wish I wouldnt have worked so hard for things I never needed when my friends, children and grandchildren needed me. I could have done so much more. 4. I wish I would have had the courage to do what was right when I saw others wronged and not been afraid to use my voice. 5. I wish I would have spent more time with people I loved.
