À Caka, Jul. dfidele Gant, Mansfield 25 Suite... Dear Friends, The other day, I sent you a devotion dealing with the adequate information about the call of God on someone’s life before he/she can step out. As a feedback, one of the readers wanted to know how one learns to hear from God. Let’s try to scratch the surface of that large subject. First of all, we must realize that God does not play hide and seek with His kids. He desires his children to hear His voice. The Word of God in John 10:4b-5 states: "...and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice." Another important truth not to overlook is to know that God has wonderful plans for each one of our lives. In fact, He designed those plans before we were even conceived in our mothers’ wombs. "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations"(Jeremiah1:5) But the question is: How does one hears God’s voice? For me to answer that question, I would like to explain why many have difficulty hearing from God. Many are not hearing from God because their minds are not renewed. Remember, we are spiritual beings living in mortal bodies. Initially, God wanted our clean minds (renewed minds) to be connected with our spirits because our spirits are directly connected to Him. So, what happens is that God communicates to our spirits the master plans and purposes He has for our lives. In turn, our spirits transfer those pieces of information to our minds. If our minds are renewed, it becomes easy for us to perceive God’s plans for us. If not, we become frustrated, heading far away from the road of success and fulfillment in life. What does the process of a renewed mind look like? The Bible calls this process of the renewing of the mind, “...the washing of water by the Word” (Ephesians 5:26). The best way to start that process is to begin sowing Bible scriptures into our spirits. In other words, it is helpful to personalize God’s Word and speak it over our personal lives. We do not have to rush!! When we faithfully meditate on those words, God brings them to pass in your personal lives. The Word of God will literally transform who we are, and we will begin to resemble more the Lord Jesus Christ. Why not start with the Pauline prayers? Three scriptures to consider are Ephesians 1:17-19; Ephesians 3:16-21; and Colossians 1:9-14. You are a blessing.
