ЕтIуанэ Дунейпсо Адыгэбзэ ЩIэнIуатэ 27-29 ФокIадэ 2013 / Анкара Videos of the presentations at the Second International Circassian Language Conference in Ankara (27-29 September) have been made available on YouTube by Levent Mole. We shall make these available on this forum with short descriptions. In this presentation [youtube/watch?v=-RenbIf-DSU], Masiret Beiqan (Бекъан Масирэт), a specialist on teaching Circassian to non-native speakers, speaks (in Kabardian Circassian) about the official measures taken in Kabardino-Balkaria to teach the Circassian language to school children who do not speak Circassian (including Circassians and non-Circassians in the Kabardino-Balkarian and Karachai-Cherkess republics, and other regions of Circassia where Kabardian is spoken, e.g. the Stavropol Krai and the Mozdok Region in North Ossetia). For this purpose a number of books and other teaching materials/means have been prepared and disseminated. The process of preparing teaching materials for publication will continue until all levels are catered for, right up to adequate Circassian language proficiency. Although most of the materials are in Russian, some are intended for those who do not speak Russian, making them suitable for Diaspora Circassians. Latin scripts for Kabardian (and Adigean) have been devised as an aid. The website [interlit.org/] allows one to convert Cyrillic Circassian (Kabardian and Adigean) to Latin Circassian (both Turkish-based and English-based) and vice versa.
