The moon begins a new cycle of phases that help us track the days of the new month. Therefore, renewal is the focus of our new moon celebrations in the park. The beginning of a new month is a good time for us to be renewed as well. This is why we take communion as a community on Erev Rosh Chodesh, the eve of the new month. This is a good time to leave behind old, bad habits and start new, good habits. It’s a time to get back on track if we’ve veered off of the path. It’s a time of introspection and personal reflection and then renewing the covenant we’ve made with Messiah.
