For us there is no difference between them. Reporter: The goal of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, stationed in Auver-sur Oise, is to overthrow the mullahs’ regime. The price of this struggle in Iran has been the loss of lives, years in prison and many of their members being tortured. However, today there is relative optimism: the regime has weakened after the elections. Mehdi Abrishamchi, Chair of the NCRI Peace Commission: The current conditions have become much better for our resistance, and also for our people, meaning that our people have come to understand very well that the only solution is uprising and demonstrating to overthrow this regime. Saleh Rajavi, NCRI Representative in France: The Islamic republic has two titles, “Islamic” and “republic”. However, it is truly not a republic. In the mullahs’ regime there are no values of the republic. This title has only been chosen facing the outside world. Reporter: Their agenda includes free elections, separation of church and state and equality for men and women. The NCRI has elected a woman as its president: Maryam Rajavi. Zohre, who aside from her little brother, all of her family members were killed by the regime after 1979, believes that women will play a significant role in this political battle. Zohre Shafaei of the NCRI: We believe to overthrow this regime the main role will be for the women. The role and influence of Mrs. Rajavi and the women of the resistance influences all women in Iran. Reporter: It is expected tens of thousands of Iranians will attend their annual gathering, along with Maryam Rajavi and her supporters from across the globe.
