Dr. Mohsin : By the heaven, holding the big stars[] Mufti Taqi Usmani : I swear by the sky, the one having stellar formations, [QETafseerComment] Pickthal : By the heaven, holding mansions of the stars, Yusuf Ali : By the Sky (displaying) the Zodiacal Signs; Verse:002 Abdul Daryabadi : And by the Day promised, Dr. Mohsin : And by the Promised Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); Mufti Taqi Usmani : And by the Promised Day, [QETafseerComment] Pickthal : And by the Promised Day. Dr. Mohsin : And they witnessed what they were doing against the believers (i.e. burning them). Mufti Taqi Usmani : And were watching what they were doing with the believers. Pickthal : And were themselves the witnesses of what they did to the believers. Yusuf Ali : And they witnessed (all) that they were doing against the Believers. Verse:008 Abdul Daryabadi : And they persecuted them for naught save that they believed in Allah, the Mighty, the Praiseworthy Dr. Mohsin : And they had no fault except that they believed in Allâh, the All-Mighty, Worthy of all Praise! Mufti Taqi Usmani : They punished them for nothing but that they believed in Allah, the All-Mighty, the Worthy of All Praise, Pickthal : They had naught against them save that they believed in Allah, the Mighty, the Owner of Praise, Yusuf Ali : And they ill-treated them for no other reason than that they believed in Allah, Exalted in Power, worthy of all Praise!― Verse:009 Abdul Daryabadi : Him, Whose is the dominion of heavens and the earth. And Allah is over everything a Witness. Dr. Mohsin : To Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth! And Allâh is Witness over everything. Mufti Taqi Usmani : The One to whom belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth. And Allah is witness over every thing. Pickthal : Him unto Whom belongeth the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is of all things the Witness. Yusuf Ali : Him to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth! and Allah is Witness to all things. Verse:010 Abdul Daryabadi : Verily those who affected the believing men and the believing women, and then repented not, theirs shall be the torment of Hell, and theirs shall be the torment of burning. Dr. Mohsin : Verily, those who put into trial the believing men and believing women (by torturing them and burning them), and then do not turn in repentance, (to Allâh), then they will have the torment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the burning Fire. Mufti Taqi Usmani : Surely, those who persecuted the believing men and the believing women, then did not repent, __for them there is the torment of Jahannam (Hell), and for them there is the torment of burning. Pickthal : Lo! they who persecute believing men and believing women and repent not, theirs verily will be the doom of hell, and theirs the doom of burning. Yusuf Ali : Those who persecute (or draw into temptation) the Believers, men and women and do not turn in repentance, will have the Penalty of Hell: they will have the Penalty of the Burning Fire. Verse:011 Abdul Daryabadi : Verily those who believed and worked righteons works, theirs shall be Gardens whereunder the rivers flow; that is the supreme achievement. Dr. Mohsin : Verily, those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them will be Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise). That is the great success. Mufti Taqi Usmani : As for those who believed and did righteous deeds, for them there are gardens beneath which rivers flow. That is the big achievement. Pickthal : Lo! those who believe and do good works, theirs will be Gardens underneath which rivers flow. That is the Great Success. Yusuf Ali : For those who believe and do righteous deeds, will be Gardens Beneath which Rivers flow: that is the great Salvation (the fulfilment of all desires). Verse:012 Abdul Daryabadi : Verily the grip of thine Lord is severe. Dr. Mohsin : Verily, (O Muhammad (SAW)) the Seizure (Punishment) of your Lord is severe and painful. (See V.11:102) Mufti Taqi Usmani : The seizure of your Lord is severe indeed! Pickthal : Lo! the punishment of thy Lord is stern. Yusuf Ali : Truly strong is the Grip (and Power) of thy Lord. Verse:013 Abdul Daryabadi : Verily He! He it is who beginneth and repeateth it. Dr. Mohsin : Verily, He it is Who begins (punishment) and repeats (punishment in the Hereafter) (or originates the creation of everything, and then repeats it on the Day of Resurrection). Mufti Taqi Usmani : Surely He originates (creation) and repeats (it after death). Pickthal : Lo! He it is Who produceth, then reproduceth, Yusuf Ali : It is He Who creates from the very beginning, and He can restore (life). Verse:014 Abdul Daryabadi : And He is the Fogiving, the Loving, Dr. Mohsin : And He is Oft-Forgiving, full of love (towards the pious who are real true believers of Islâmic Monotheism), Mufti Taqi Usmani : And He is the Most-Forgiving, the Most-Loving, Pickthal : And He is the Forgiving, the Loving, Yusuf Ali : And He is the Oft-Forgiving Full, of loving-kindness Verse:015 Abdul Daryabadi : Lord of the Throne, the Glorious, Dr. Mohsin : Owner of the throne, the Glorious. Mufti Taqi Usmani : The Master of the Throne, the Glorious. Pickthal : Lord of the Throne of Glory, Yusuf Ali : Lord of the Throne of Glory, Verse:016 Abdul Daryabadi : Doer of whatsoever He intendeth. Dr. Mohsin : (He is the) Doer of whatsoever He intends (or wills). Mufti Taqi Usmani : He is ever doer of what He intends. Pickthal : Doer of what He will. Yusuf Ali : Doer (without let) of all that He intends. Verse:017 Abdul Daryabadi : Hath there come Unto thee the story of the hosts- Dr. Mohsin : Has the story reached you of the hosts, Mufti Taqi Usmani : Has there come to you the story of the forces, Pickthal : Hath there come unto thee the story of the hosts Yusuf Ali : Has the story reached thee, of the Forces― Verse:018 Abdul Daryabadi : Of the Firawn and the Thamud? Dr. Mohsin : Of Firaun (Pharaoh) and Thamûd? Mufti Taqi Usmani : Of Fir‘aun (Pharaoh) and Thamud? Pickthal : Of Pharaoh and (the tribe of) Thamud? Yusuf Ali : Of Pharaoh and the Thamud? Verse:019 Abdul Daryabadi : But those who disbelieve are engaged in denial. Dr. Mohsin : Nay! The disbelievers (persisted) in denying (Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and his Message of Islâmic Monotheism). Mufti Taqi Usmani : But those who disbelieve are (engaged) in denying (the truth). Pickthal : Nay, but those who disbelieve live in denial Yusuf Ali : And yet the Unbelievers (persist) in rejecting (the Truth)! Verse:020 Abdul Daryabadi : Whereas Allah is, from behind them, Encompassing. Dr. Mohsin : And Allâh encompasses them from behind! (i.e. all their deeds are within His Knowledge, and He will requite them for their deeds). Mufti Taqi Usmani : Allah has encompassed them from all sides. Pickthal : And Allah, all unseen, surroundeth them. Yusuf Ali : But Allah doth encompass them from behind! Verse:021 Abdul Daryabadi : Aye! it is a Recitation glorious, Dr. Mohsin : Nay! This is a Glorious Qurân, Mufti Taqi Usmani : The reality is that it is the glorious Qur’an, Pickthal : Nay, but it is a glorious Quran. Yusuf Ali : Nay this is a Glorious Quran, Verse:022 Abdul Daryabadi : Inscribed in a tablet preserved. Dr. Mohsin : (Inscribed) in Al-Lauh Al-Mahfûz (The Preserved Tablet)!
