|| ॐ ह्रीं श्री पार्श्वनाथाय नमः || || Auṃ Hrīṃ Śrī Pārśvanāthāya Namaḥ || Jay Jinendra BRAND NEW HINDI & ENGLISH TRANSLATIONS OF CLASSICAL JAIN TEXTS navelgazing.net/2014/12/brand-new-hindi-english-translations-of.html With the inspiration of the indefatigable Acarya Vidyananda, Vijay Kumar Jain has begun translating and publishing a brand new series of Hindi + English translations of some of the most important Jain texts. This is a welcome development as more and more Jains prefer to read their sacred books in English these days. In the past two decades or so, many publishers have come forward to publish Jain texts in English. Hindi Granth Karyalay, Radiant Publishers and many others are now publishing brand new Hindi and English translations of important Jain texts. Translators like Dr Jaykumar Jalaj, Jagdish Prasad Jain Sadhak and Manish Modi are presenting accurate reader-friendly translations of important Jain texts. These modern translations differ greatly from the earlier translations in one significant manner. With some exceptions, earlier translations assumed the readers’ familiarity with the subject and conveyed things in a manner that only those proficient in the doctrine could comprehend. This was perfectly acceptable half a century ago as the community was living in centres with regular access to learned Jain monks and lay scholars who could elaborate on the scriptures. With time, the Jain community has travelled far and wide in search of a better life and hence a large number of Jains have now settled abroad or in places with little or no access to Jain monks and scholars. Also, with the advent of English education, not many Jains of the younger generation are comfortable reading Jain texts in Prakrit/Sanskrit or even in their mother tongue. They prefer reading them in their medium of instruction, which is English. Keeping this in mind, modern translators have translators have translated Jain texts in a reader-friendly manner to enable readers to access the sublime teachings of the Jinas on their own in the language they feel most comfortable with. Here is a series of Hindi and English translations by Vijay Kumar Jain which we recommend that you make a part of your collection. स्वयम्भूस्तोत्र SVAYAMBHUSTOTRA By Acarya Samantabhadra Sanskrit text + Hindi translation + English translation Hindi & English translations by Vijay Kumar Jain 2014 23 x 16 cm 254 pages Hardcover Rs. 500 इष्टोपदेश ISHTOPADESHA By Acarya Pujyapada Sanskrit text + Hindi translation + English translation Hindi & English translations by Vijay Kumar Jain 2014 23 x 16 cm 168 pages Hardcover Rs. 450 द्रव्यसङ्ग्रह DRAVYASAMGRAHA By Acarya Nemicandra Prakrit text + Hindi translation + English translation Hindi & English translations by Vijay Kumar Jain 2013 23 x 16 cm 232 pages Hardcover Rs. 450 समयसार SAMAYASARA By Acarya Kundakunda Prakrit text + Hindi translation + English translation Hindi & English translations by Vijay Kumar Jain 2012 23 x 16 cm 224 pages Hardcover Rs. 350 पुरुषार्थसिद्ध्युपाय PURUSHARTHASIDDHYUPAYA By Acarya Amritacandra Sanskrit text + Hindi translation + English translation Hindi & English translations by Vijay Kumar Jain 2012 23 x 16 cm 207 pages Hardcover Rs. 350 तत्त्वार्थसूत्र TATTVARTHASUTRA By Acarya Umasvami Sanskrit text + Hindi translation + English translation Hindi & English translations by Vijay Kumar Jain 2011 23 x 16 cm 175 pages Hardcover Rs. 250 All these books are printed in a large and attractive font.
