รู้จัก...ลุ่มน้ำ เข้าใจ...แนวทางแก้ไข การแก้ไขปัญหาน้ำนอกจากจะต้องวางแผนอย่างเป็นระบบทั่วทั้งลุ่มน้ำใกล้เคียงกันอีกด้วย เพื่อให้การแก้ไขปัญหาน้ำสามารถวางแผนให้สอดคล้องและดำเนินการควบคุมกันไปได้อย่างบูรณาการ เช่นเดียวกับ ลุ่มน้ำบางปะกง ลุ่มน้ำปราจีนบุรี ซึ่งมีความเกี่ยวข้องเชื่อมโยงกันตามธรรมชาติการไหลของน้ำและสภาพภูมิศาสตร์ ทำให้การแก้ปัญหาต้องวางแผนให้สอดคล้องและดำเนินการควบคู่กันไปลุ่มน้ำบางปะกง เป็นแหล่งน้ำสำคัญในภาคตะวันออก มีพื้นที่ลุ่มน้ำประมาณ ๗,๙๗๘ ตารางกิโลเมตร ส่วนใหญ่อยู่ในจังหวัดปราจีนบุรีฉะเชิงเทราและชลบุรี มีลำน้ำสำคัญได้แก่ แม่น้ำปราจีนบุรี แม่น้ำบางปะกงคลองท่าลาด และคลองหลวงลุ่มน้ำปราจีนบุรี มีพื้นที่ลุ่มน้ำประมาณ ๑๐,๔๘๐ ตารางกิโลเมตรครอบคลุมพื้นที่ จังหวัดปราจีนบุรีและสระแก้วสภาพภูมิประเทศมีทิวเขาสันกำแพงเป็นพื้นที่ต้นน้ำทางทิศเหนือและทิศตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ มีแม่น้ำสายสำคัญคือแม่น้ำปราจีนบุรี ซึ่งไหลไปบรรจบกับแม่น้ำนครนายกกลายเป็นแม่น้ำบางปะกงแล้วไหลลงอ่าวไทย นอกจากนี้ยังมีแม่น้ำและลำน้ำสาขาที่สำคัญได้แก่ แม่น้ำพระปรง มีลำน้ำสาขาคือคลองพระปรง คลองพระสะทึงและห้วยไคร้ แม่น้ำหนุมานมีลำน้ำสาขาคือ ห้วยโสมงและลำพระยาธารทางด้านท้ายน้ำสาขาที่สำคัญคือ คลองประจันตคาม ห้วยเกษียรคลองหนองแก้วและคลองยางแม่น้ำปราจีนบุรี Knowing the River, Knowing the Solutions To solve water problems, thorough plan shall be made to cover all nearby river basins and in systematic manner. By this mean, water problems can be undertaken responsively and comprehensively. As for the Bang Pakong and Prachinburi river basins, their natural features of flow and topographical features require systematic planning and collaborative implementation. The Bang Pakong river basin is the main basin of the Eastern region. Covering area of approximately 7,978 square kilometers , mostly in Prachinburi, Chachaengsao and Chonburi provinces. Major streams of the region are Prachinburi and Bang Pakong rivers, and Tha Lat and Luang canals. The Prachinburi river basin covering 10,480 square kilometers in the Prachinburi and Sa Kaew provinces. With the San Kampaeng mountain range as the watershed area in the North and Northeast, the Prachinburi river united with the Nakhon Nayok river and becomes the Bang Pakong river flowing to the Gulf of Siam.
