找不到和您的查詢-3 OFW nurses allegedly abducted in Libya, group urges DFA to verify by Jul 12, 2013 6:50am HKT THE Filipino migrant sectoral group MIGRANTE said three OFW nurses were abducted in Libya, citing reports from concerned Libya-based overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). “Per reports I got from the concerned OFWs in Libya at around 5:30 p.m. thursday, 3 OFW nurses, one of them a female nurse, were allegedly abducted in a Libyan City located about 1,500 kilometers away from Tripoli, Libya’s capital. The alleged abduction happened in the evening of July 9, 2013,” said MIGRANTE vice-chairperson John Leonard Monterona, also the group’s coordinator in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). Monterona added the 3 OFW nurses were identified by their fellow OFWs. They work in a well-known medical clinic named Al-Sebha, which has several branches all over Libya. “At the moment, I can’t reveal their names for security reasons and besides their families were not yet properly informed,” Monterona added. Monterona added the 3 OFW nurses went out of their accommodation to buy stocks of food, water, laptop charger, and cell phone at around 5:30 p.m. of June 9. They took a taxi cab going to the city where they could buy. At around 7:40 p.m., they hired a taxi cab upon return to their accommodation. But the Libyan taxi driver brought them in an unfamiliar place, Monterona citing reports from the concerned OFWs. At the moment, Monterona said he is still awaiting update of the alleged abduction incident involving the 3 OFW nurses. Monterona added the other 7 colleagues of the 3 allegedly abducted nurses pleaded for assistance to be transferred to Tripoli for fear of their safety. They have been requesting the Hospital management for their immediate transfer until 3 of their colleagues were allegedly abducted. “We call on the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to verify this report. Of if they have already received information about the abduction of 3 nurses, it should immediately arrange to dispatch a quick reaction team,” Monterona suggested. Libyan authorities should also be properly alerted and ask their assistance, Monterona urged the DFA. “PH embassy and labor officials in Libya should immediately talk to the employer-sponsor of the 3 allegedly abducted, and for the other 7 OFWs nurses to arrange their transfer from their Sebha job site to Tripoli, the latter being relatively peaceful now,” Monterona averred. “The PH govt. through the DFA and DoLE-POEA should ensure that OFWs deployed abroad are safe and their well beings are protected. This should be a primary task of PH embassy and labor officials abroad,” Monterona pointed out. Monterona also urged the DFA and DoLE to clarify if there is still OFWs deployment ban to Libya.-相符的資料
