초자연(Super Nature)전에 대하여 초자연주의는 보통의 인식능력으로는 설명할 수 없는 실재나 현상을 인간과 우주의 설명원리로 삼는 학설이며 자연주의 혹은 합리주의와 대립하고 있습니다. 또한 초자연적 현상은 외부 세계나 자연계에 부여되어 있는 지력(知力) 이외의 것입니다. 이러한 뜻에서 자연을 초월해 나온 것들이 우리 인간을 둘러 싼 세계 속에 불현 듯 나타나는 여러 가지 현상을 말하고 있습니다. 과학기술과 예술이 융합하는 첨단 뉴미디어 아트를 다루는 김윤철, 리경, 박재영, 백정기, 조이수 등 5작가의 현장제작 설치작품들로 연결 구성된 전은 초이성적 혹은 초현실적 세계의 실재(實在)를 상정하여 미술관의 특별한 건축 공간 속에 기계적 장치들로 개입해서 통상적인 우리 지각의 한계를 넘어서는 현상을 시도하고 있습니다. 이 5인의 작가들은 그 한계 너머의 비가시적 이면에서 자연성을 해체하고, 보이는 세계와 보이지 않는 영역이 겹치는 중간지대인 새로운 초자연적 환경을 재구축합니다. 촉각적인 빛, 소리, 아득한 우주의 에너지, 반중력, 증명할 수 없는 영(靈) 등 느껴지지만 “보이지 않는 것”, 즉 비가시적, 무정형적, 혹은 한 순간적으로만 모습을 드러내는 덧없는 실재를 표현하려는 첨단 전자시대의 기술 낭만주의적인 작품들을 산책하듯이 느껴보시길 기대합니다. Super Nature Supernaturalism is a concept that attempts to explain phenomena associated with humans or the universe that cannot be understood by the human mind. It is opposed to naturalism and rationalism. Supernatural phenomena are those occurring outside the understanding of the natural world that we humans have developed. The exhibition we are holding, under the title “Super Nature,” displays the cutting-edge, fine artworks of five artists: Yunchul Kim, Ligyung, Jaeyoung Park, Jungki Beak, and Isu Cho. The works displayed show the artists’ attempts to go beyond the limit of ordinary human understanding based on the assumption that a supernatural world does exist. They deconstruct the natural word and take it beyond the limit of our understanding to create a new environment.
