Thank you girls for taking me for a slow walk today @sigutee @claritachiquitita Looks like Ive probably torn/strained my lower back muscles so its pretty sore to move around. The good news is lower back muscles usually heal quickly because they have a good blood supply delivering the nutrients & proteins necessary for healing. Hopefully this never happens to you, but if it does heres what to do: - If the injury is severe rest, but for no more than 2 days. As tempting as it is to just stay in bed & cry, try to keep moving to prevent the muscles from stiffening & feeling worse. Adding to that If you stop using the muscles, atrophy (muscle wastage) and weakening will occur, which causes more lower back pain because the muscles are less able to support the spine. ICE! This helps reduce swelling & inflammation and also numbs the area- which is very relieving immediately following the injury. Pain medication to interrupt transmit ion of pain signals to the brain. Anti-inflammatory medication to help reduce inflammation causing pain. Gentle massage to increase blood flow to the area. Acupuncture to disrupt pain signals from the area to the brain & stimulate blood flow. Heat therapy to help stimulate blood flow.
