---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Yasin T. al-Jibouri Date: 24 June 2014 09:36 June 24, 2014 Assalamo Alaikom They say that history is our great teacher: We learn a great deal from it. The Shi`as of the world have two options: They can either write their own history by themselves, thus providing first-hand information, or let others write it for them, and Allah knows what lies can be recorded about them in this case! Yet the latter case seems to have prevailed throughout the ages, and this is a shame, because non-Shi`as will never be fair to the followers of Ahlul-Bayt (as), and Shi`as should blame only themselves for letting others do what they should themselves do. These non-Shi`as are either Sunnis or non-Muslims, and neither is sympathetic to the Shi`as; this is a fact which we all must recognize, whether we like it or not. I spent 31 years of my life in the United States and saw how our Shi`a community there lived, and to be honest with you, I was not pleased with it. But I am not going here to detail the reasons, I only regret the fact that so far, only one of our intellectual Brothers has taken the time and exerted the effort to write about the Shi`a communities in the U.S.: He is Dr. Liyakat Takim who documented the activities of the Shi`as in the U.S. in his book titled Shi`ism in America (New York University Press, 2009, ISBN 978-0-8147-8296-5) which, despite its in-depth research, missed few important things such as the arrival at New York of the first representative of our supreme Marji`iyya in al-Najaf al-Ashraf at the time, namely Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Abul-Qasim al-Khoei, as I once told him, may Allah bless and reward him. As for me, I detailed the establishment of two great Shi`a centers in the U.S.: the Khoei Center in New York and the Islamic Education Center in Rockville, Maryland. You can read all these details in the Preface to my book titled Mary and Jesus in Islam (Bloomington, Indiana: Authorhouse, 2011, ISBN 978-1-4685-2321-8). The name of that representative is Shaikh (Shaykh) Muhammad Sarwar who is detailed in Wikipedia, the Internet’s free encyclopedia, which you can review if you click on this Link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muhammad_Shaykh_Sarwar You can use this information for your book, essay, article, thesis…, etc., if you care about history at all… Wassalamo Alaikom.
