------- Trauma ------ Blood Blood and more Blood Blood was everywhere. I did not have a nose bleed. I did not cut my head on the sliding glass door. People were tracking blood in and out, and it was not a slaughter house. It was a temple in Katmandu. I was grossed out. Why would anyone worship in all this blood. In 1960 we chased down a chicken for May Jackson, who held it by the legs and chopped its head off on the fire wood chopping block. We through a wash tub over it as it flopped about the yard. I think the people in Nepal, have a ceremony commemorating the life of a animal, before they eat it. In Nepal they didnt use the back yard chopping block, they take every animal to the temple, and have the priest kill it. I think it is a nice gesture to say a few words before you kill and eat an animal. I have thought, to connect Americans to the earth, small towns should lead a calf into a park, have a prayer kill, butcher and barbecue that calf all in one day. Some people think that watching an animal go from breathing to burgers is too traumatic. I find it traumatic to watch my parents go from breathing to burial. Nursing homes and cellophane keep one from being close to death.
