---- OMG A New Photo Challenge ----- Phone Photo Challenge: One phone shot a day for one week (or for as long as you like) I have been doing photography for a long time (first camera at 6) and I am still surprising myself. Yes I shoot with an amazing camera and do some fancy processing in Lightroom 5 but thats not what gives me great results. This challenge is a great leveler. You get to use your phones camera (I use a Nexus 5 Android phone) and Instagram for post production of the image. You can cheat by using photos from a fancy camera and then posting to Instagram but I find that, the more I use my phones camera the better my photos turn out. In the end its not about who posts the best photos, its about everyone becoming better photographers through practice and seeing other peoples images. When you take up this challenge please invite people from your network to join as well. The more we shoot and share the better you will become at photography and seeing the world in a new light. Try and grab one shot a day and post it to Instagram. Lets see how long we can keep this going. Here is the hashtage you can use in the description of each shot you post so we can all learn from each other. #PhonePhoto I prefer to shoot with the camera app than comes with my phone. I dont like the results I get using Instargrams camera optioon. However I really like the post production tool on Instagram (the icon looks like a wrench). I never bother with the silly filters though. Here is what I do after importing my photo to Instagrams (see the screen shots to see how subtle the tweaks are): - A little bit more Contrast - Darken the image a bit (if needed) - Then some more Saturation - Then boost the Highlights a bit - Increase the intensity of the Blacks a bit - Optional - Align the image to make it straight You can follow me on Instagram at GarlickPhoto to see my results.
