---people go on gathering outside the courthouse in support of Barış Atay-- Turkish actor taken to courthouse ...(IN HANDCUFFS) Some 14 suspects, including actor Barış Atay, have been taken to court after being detained as a part of an operation against the Turkish hacker group Redhack. It was reported that actor Atay did not speak in the investigation, as he wanted to testify at the prosecutors’ office. Within the investigation conducted by Public Prosecutors of Ankara, Redhack has been described as “an organization using social and printed media.” Atay, via Twitter, loudly expressed his objections to the harsh police intervention during the anti-government Gezi Park protests over the summer, and has been taken into custody in Istanbul. Redhack has staged a number of attacks against the websites of state institutions in protest of police violence during the protests, including the Turkish police force and the Istanbul Special Provincial Administration. Anti-cybercrime teams in Ankara subsequently kicked off an investigation into the group. Six people have died and thousands injured since the Gezi protests erupted in late May, when the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality attempted to cut down trees in the central Istanbul park, sparking prolonged demonstrations in cities across the country.
