- Ace Frehley Enlists KISS Destroyer Cover Artist For New Album Former Kiss guitarist collaborates with artist Ken Kelly for first time in 35 years Former Kiss guitarist Ace Frehley has drawn a line literally back to his days in makeup for his forthcoming solo album Space Invader by hiring artist Ken Kelly to design its cover. Kelly previously created the artwork for two of Kiss most popular albums, 1976s Destroyer and 1977s Love Gun. It was very exciting when I was approached with the idea of doing an album cover for Ace, Kelly said in a statement. He added that was proud to play a part of Aces continuing successful career. Kelly has made his name drawing fantastical scenes of swords and sorcery for Conan the Barbarian and Tarzan novels, as well as the covers of albums by hard rock and metal bands like Coheed and Cambria, Rainbow and Manowar. Space Invader marks the first time in 35 years he has worked with Frehley. Kiss Forever: 40 Years of Feuds and Fury Ive been talking with Ken Kelly since 2007 about painting a CD cover for me and it has finally happened, Frehley said. I couldnt be more excited about the new Space Invader cover and the music behind it is also going to rock your world. Space Invader will contain at least nine original songs and a cover of the Steve Miller Bands The Joker. Frehley has said that his fans can expect a sound similar to his 1978 solo album, which contained the hit New York Groove. In April, Frehley was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with his former Kiss bandmates. Speaking with Rolling Stone after the induction, Frehley said: I think were probably gonna go down in history as the greatest theatrical rock group in the world. I think thats probably gonna be an undisputable fact. And now that were part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, that just cements our place in history even better. Source: rollingstone
