*-Man allegedly uses fraudulent credit card to buy $15,000 in merchandise, gift cards-* A disturbance in a parking lot Monday morning led to the arrest of a man who may have made more than $15,000 in purchases with a fraudulent credit card. Dwaron Wolford, 22, with addresses in Markham, Ill., and Gary, was charged with maintaining a common nuisance and felony counts of fraud and theft. Police were called to Meijer, 6050 U.S. 6, just after 11 a.m. Monday on a report of verbal disturbance in the parking lot of the retailer. Police found Wolford and Terrence Jefferson, 28, with addresses in Gary and Jackson, Tenn., at the Meijer gas station parking lot. According to the report, both they and Wolfords car reeked of marijuana. Jefferson admitted to having marijuana in his pocket. Jefferson allegedly told police that both men had been smoking marijuana. Wolford was charged with visiting a common nuisance and Jefferson charged with possession of marijuana and visiting a common nuisance. During that investigation, a loss prevention officer from the retailer contacted police about possible stolen merchandise. Video surveillance of earlier in the morning showed Wolford purchasing $1,298 in gift cards and other merchandise from the store. However, the credit card number in the register system and the number of the credit card found on Wolford and used in the purchase did not match. Wolford also allegedly attempted to purchase several gift cards at the gas station along with gasoline with the allegedly fraudulent credit card. The loss prevention officer also reported to police that the credit card number in question had been used to purchase $15,486 in gift cards and merchandise between Dec. 27 and Jan. 5. joycerusselltimes/portercountysheriffdept
