-Seven- “Acknowledge the power of magic if you have employed it successfully to obtain your desires. If you deny the power of magic after having called upon it with success, you will lose all you have obtained.” -Poppycock and balderdash... this is idiotic nonsense. Arcane occult mysticism has no place in the Church of Satan Anarchist. We are far too pragmatic to hold an irrational belief in the ability of magic to actualize specific results. This purportedly Satanic ritual is akin to the practice of prayer by monotheists. The concepts of magic and prayer mimic one another, in that they both encourage individuals to focus their personal desires through blind faith in a deity or supernatural power, and then cite any coincidental fulfillment of those desires as proof that their beliefs are true or justified. Regardless of whether or not your desires are met, it likely has nothing to do with lighting candles, burning incense, decorating an altar, visiting a shrine, wearing a rosary, the ringing of bells or gongs, drinking from chalices, or babbling through witless prose. The threat that you will ‘lose all you have obtained’ is a complete capitulation to the monotheistic concept of damnation- only instead of being damned to an afterlife of eternal suffering, we are being threatened with earthly poverty and dissatisfaction with life if we fail to personally acknowledge the influence of a vague ‘supernatural’ power over human lives. Despite this threat, The Church of Satan Anarchist stands up to assert that magic is not real, just as God and Satan are not real- they are remnant figments of the collective imaginations of our ancestors. Magic and the super-natural are ancient attempts to explain and understand an inexplicable ancient world. We know better than this now. We can utilize Satanic mythology as a social tool for creating a cultural narrative promoting anarchist values without succumbing to belief in that mythologys literal truth.
