-have you had enough? -do you need some more, do you want some more. are you still angry, hungry. desert maybe? i came to israel in 1989. enthusiastic is the word to describe me the first years. i went to the army, i lived in a kibbutz, i became a real tsabar i know how to drive a JohnDeer and a M113 i know how to grow corn and how to shoot an M24. it was the best thing that happen to me. 25 years past, i ve seen 2 intifadas, wars, irak, lebanon, numbers of operations, i don’t even remember the names 25 years changes you, the biggest change comes from the violence. it s a disease. if you from here, born here, you won t pay attention, if you new, you best get use to it quick, unless you won t make it. after a wile …you become immune. we communicate through it my last year as a student at bezalel, i wasn t shy any more, i had a huge argument with my department director over some bullshit ….and i was sure he was gone expel me. far from it... we become pals. best bodies. he even propose me my first teaching position at the end of the year. a friend told me later : it s because you stood up. he respects you now. we r loud, we r pushing, we argue, we know better, we don t ask, we shoot, we fight, we see bodies, we have guns, tanks, we have f16, we fights, all the time, at the cashier, on the sea beach, in traffic…..oh.. the traffic….we are hooked on violence. put most of us in switzerland for a week and we will tell you this: i m bored! like a drug, we need a bigger dose every time to feel something, things that seams catastrophic just few years ago look totally normal today. the last shoot in the vein were the most violent 30 days i ve ever experience in my life. pure rage, hate, so many dead people. so many destruction. so many violence. tanks, ships, planes, bombs, rockets, guns , missiles, in the morning, in the night, funerals, beating to death, mod, on every station on very tv, at any moment, on twitter, on fb, on the radio, on billboards. the biggest show ever so over saturated, you can smell the blood, you can feel the knock back. you can feel the joy of that man on tv explaining how this all street was wiped out of the map, how those soldiers died before even understanding what was happening. but like a drug addict, we r immune. most of us just don t fell the damage anymore, some even need some more. -everybody feels better now? is there a winner? i bet most israeli feel they ve lost the war... palestinians ..just the same all that for….nothing. tragic we r back to july 8 when it all started. beside the killing. nothing changes. israel and hamas are making a deal today, same deal they could have made without all of this. but we r addicted, only now that we have killed, only now that all is broken we can talk. now we respect each other. after a storm comes a calm we calm now, can you hear me now? can we talk now? …. -have you had enough? -do you need some more, do you want some more. are you still angry, hungry. desert maybe? (and, just to be clear, this is my people, this is who we are, i m a full partner, full responsibility. we vote, we got what we deserve, and it s up to us….to get better).
