01/11/2013 Today’s Meditation: Galatians 5:1-6 A Trip To Galatia 16 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace Gal 5:1&4. The reason why Christ came was to set man free; to set us free from sin, from Satan and from the curse of the law. Those who accept Him are free; they are not under any bondage or condemnation. There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death Rom 8:1-2. I have said it again and again from the word of God that the liberty is freedom from sin and not freedom to sin. Christians are free people; we are not a people tamed by religious rules and endless church laws. Those who need to be tamed by unending denominational laws are yet to experience Christ. What keeps a true child of God pure and holy is not the mastering of all the denominational dos and don’ts; it is the nature of God in him, the nature of Christ carried by the presence of the Holy Spirit in him. Once you have become the carrier of this nature, you are a free man; free to walk with God in purity and free to reign with Him eternally. There are subtle ways in which the devil will want to bring man back to bondage. You see, the devil is always a stakeholder in the affairs of man. Whatever man has, he will contend it. The serpent is always present in the garden! There are many ways by which the devil is bringing the modern Christians back into bondage. There are “prophets” today, who are totally ignorant of the mind of God in Christ Jesus, who, in the process of making a living out of the innocent but gullible church goers, subject them to many ritualistic and occult practices bringing them back into bondage. When you see what some people do in the church today in the name of “prophetic revelations” you cannot but wonder whether we are still in the era of Judaism or we are in the liberty of Christ. In Christ Jesus, the issue is faith; the pure faith that works through love and obedience. In Christ Jesus, there are no more rituals to be performed; no more material mediums, no more sacrifices! At a place here in Ibadan, Nigeria, a man was said to make a small swimming pool in the altar area of his church which he calls “pool of Siloam”. There he asks religiously crazy people to swim claiming that angels of God come to stir the water. That is not a church of God; that is an occult centre. But you see, some will say Pastor Amos but that pool is in the Bible. That is where the problem is; ignorance. Lack of true biblical understanding that is putting men into the danger of hell! Beloved, if you are not a denominational bigot, if you are interested in studying your bible and following Christ, you need to understand the purpose and reasons for anything you see in the bible; you must also know the difference between some practices in the Old Testament which are “types” of things to come in Christ. It is not everything you see in the bible that you are expected to practice. For example, will you say that because Elisha asked Naaman to go and bath in Jordan seven times to cure his leprosy, you too will be looking for rivers in which to bath whenever you have problems? The fact that Elisha put salt into the source of the water of Jericho, does that make us salt carrying people pouring salt all over the places in our homes and business premises? Jesus washed the feet of his disciple a common practice in Israel which a slave of the house does to his master in order to teach them humility. The explanation of why he did it was clearly given to them by Him and it is well recorded in the scriptures. We never saw the disciples all through the Acts of the Apostles repeating it; it was never recommended in any epistles. The only thing Christ commanded them to do among many things He did was the table of communions. But today, don’t you see the way we carry water all about doing foot washing? Back to bondage! Those of us who do foot washing are condemning the folks that are putting candles all over the places in their churches; aren’t we in the same boat? The blood of Jesus has replaced the blood of sprinkling of the Old Testament. That blood was shed ONCE AND FOR ALL! But aren’t we sprinkling black currant or something on ourselves today in church calling it the blood of Jesus? For heaven sake, when will the church come out of deceptions and religious gullibility? Why must we lose our liberty in Christ? Why should we leave the word of God to follow someone’s extra-biblical revelations? Please, do not misunderstand my appeal; I am not against any denomination or any man of God. My assignment is to call you back to pure biblical Christianity; the type that will not put your heaven in danger. That is if you are not too biased to reason! Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth 2Tim 2:15. You are welcome to November. This month, the Lord will do things that are beyond your expectations in your life, family and business in Jesus name. You will not end this year in shame; that help you desperately need will locate you in Jesus name. You celebration will begin before this month ends. God bless you; I love so much in Christ Jesus!
