03:10 as morning prayers approach the jubilant crowd in Abdoun ,mainly youth, has gone home, but tonight they took with them one very important reality - yes one can achieve against the odds even when you come from a refugee camp in Gaza ,when your freedom is curtailed,when you lack so many things others have without realising how privileged they are. A simple TV format of a talent show with its glitz,illusions and commercial interests was turned into something else influenced by the regional developments and realities that stand in stark contrast to shows of this kind. It became a loud and proud call by people in the Arab World for Justice, Peace and Equality - it was an expression of solidarity against all forms of oppression and discrimination in a pure direct democratic way - It seems to me as observer that Arab Idol 2013 was an incredible political manifestation going far beyond the intent of the creator of its format Simon Fuller !
