07-21-2014 > Quotes of the Day! Brian Sidney Parrott > In the great Pacific North West, we had a six-week summer circuit of: Eugene and Portland, Oregon; Tacoma and Seattle, Washington; Victoria and Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada ...all of the stops between 100-150 miles apart, moving north each week. The host clubs: Eugene Swim and Tennis, Irvington, Tacoma Lawn, Seattle Tennis Club, Victoria and Vancouver Lawn Tennis and Badminton Club provided housing for the competitors. That is an ideal circuit set-up that seems to me could, and should, be developed again with an overall circuit sponsor like American Express (as we had) and local title sponsors. July 10th at 8:47am Barbara Fullwood > It would be nice to also have a winter circuit, like they used to have leading up to the French. It was called the Good Neighbor Circuit, and included stops in Miami, Barranquilla, and other South American countries. Maybe just expand on clay court tournaments we have now, like Memphis and Delray Beach. July 10th at 9:03am Jerry Winder > Played Birmingham ... one year, Joaquin Loyo Mayo was the 5th seed. He was up 3-2 in first set, I was playing outta my mind and feeling good getting set to serve. Two dudes walked by and one says to other, see that short Mexican guy over there? He had Brian Gottfried 5 match points last week before he lost. Now ... did I REALLY need to know that?! :( It was kind of a short match after that. July 10th at 8:20pm Robert Hubbard > After my freshman year of college, I played the qualies in Birmingham, Alabama. My coach had me entering Southern Section tourneys starting on Wednesdays because he said I wasnt going to qualify in satellites yet. Made final round of qualies in Birmingham, couldnt wait to call coach to tell him I made it through. Til some nobody named Tim Gullickson (or was it Tom haha) kicked my ass up one wall and down the other. I made a small tourney in Florence, South Carolina 2 days later. How was it like playing these circuits in your day?
