09/17 ~ At 00:55 North Metro Firefighters were dispatched to a possible structure fire at 15448 Mountain View Circle. The reporting party saw smoke and ash coming from a house under construction. Broomfield Police Officers arrived on scene first and confirmed visible smoke with locked doors. Engine 64 sized up a two story residential structure with smoke showing from around the roof line and blackened windows. Battalion 61 assumed command, crews forced entry through the alpha side front door and found a heavy smoke, heat and a spongy floor. At the same time flames were observed in the basement on the charlie side. A withdraw order was given and a 2 1/2 was advanced to side charlie where a piercing nozzle was used. A back-up 1 3/4 line with a spinner nozzle was also pulled to side charlie and placed in a second access point. Chief 63 was assigned as Safety and a thermal imaging camera revealed that a large area of the first floor was burned through. Engine 66 cut several holes along the edge of the first floor for better cellar nozzle access. Entry was also forced into the garage and a 2 1/2 was advanced inside for better basement access. A MLS listing shows the structure as 8,684 square feet with 5 bedrooms & 9 bathrooms valued at 1.6 million dollars.
