1 Corinthians 10:13 Temptations and Trials In life, every - TopicsExpress

1 Corinthians 10:13 Temptations and Trials In life, every believer will face a variety of temptations; this word contains the idea of an internal or external source or opportunity to commit sin. Often the situation in which you find yourself makes some temptations specific to you personally. Yet, the Bible also reveals that temptations are common to all of us. Whatever you might be facing today, others have faced similar temptations. In other words, what you are facing is not unique to you exclusively. Perhaps you are facing the loss of finances, good health, or family. Have you considered that those are the very things that happened to the Lords servant Job (Job 1-2)? Perhaps you have been asked to do something that you absolutely despise? Remember what Gods prophet Jonah was called to do (Jon.1:2). Do you have family members who refuse to trust in Christ, despite your best efforts to lead them to the Lord? Keep in mind that Jesus own brothers and sisters refused to believe on Him until after His resurrection (Mk.6:4). At times, the Christian life can be difficult and even distressing. What is the believer to do? Should we capitulate, contemplate, or succumb to sin? No, never. First, we must remember that we have been saved by the sovereign God of the universe. He is in control of all, even the very circumstances in which we find ourselves. Second, we need to acknowledge that He is faithful (v.13) and will not permit the situations we face to overwhelm us. Whatever He allows in our life is intended to conform us to the image of Christ. Third, we are to trust Him completely because He will provide a way to escape-the ability to endure the temptation for His glory and for our good. GDF
