1. I love her vocals so much in this track. Yes. Omg, yes. 2. Considering the lyrics were written by someone with white, straight, cis-male privilege, its interesting to me to see how the ideas represented in these lyrics may connect, if at all, to contemporary violent responses to feelings of failed white masculinity in the U.S. 3. I keep thinking about predator/prey assemblages and how I see this dynamic play out, again and again, and I think the sentiments in the lyrics here are representative of a lot of the sort of context out of which Ive seen said assemblages mostly arising from recently. I love this song, and yet the discourse here seems to fit in perfectly with the narrative of the lone individual who feels like they have less than they deserve and subsequently choose to respond to this feeling with violence.
