1 Timothy 1:3-4, As I urged you when I went into Macedonia—remain in Ephesus that you may charge some that they teach no other doctrine, 4 nor give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which cause disputes rather than godly edification which is in faith. The apostle Paul was encouraging Timothy to give an order when it comes to the proclamation of the gospel. He (Timothy) was to tell those, who were teaching another gospel, that they were to cease this practice. And they were to end their teaching fancy stories and legends founded in Judaism. It was nothing more than a promotion of false teaching. The same things hold true for us today in the American church of the 21st Century. We must examine if a teacher or preacher is declaring the Word of God, or if they are proclaiming opinions, myths, and legends. It is important for you to know the truth of Gods Word so you will know if someone is declaring the truth or spoon feeding you a load of junk which cannot be contextually supported through the Scripture. If you are a preacher and a teacher of the Word, I encourage you to be faithful to the Lord and to His Word. Do not allow yourself to stray away from the holy and infallible Scripture. If you are more a learner than a teacher, than you need to dig into the Bible just as much as a teacher. Read it. Listen to the Holy Spirit teaching you. Consider what the Spirit says to you. And then ask the same Holy Spirit to help you apply the Word of God to your life.
