1 Timothy 3:8 we see a scary truth revealed. “Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses.” These two were close to the action, so to speak. They saw the miracles of God. They heard first-hand the word of God through Moses, yet they “opposed the truth.” Paul then goes on to qualify just what their problem, or issue was: they were “men corrupted in mind and disqualified regarding the faith.” Being “corrupt in mind” takes us back to verse 2-4, verses that define every sort of ungodly behavior. Behavior that is embraced because the mind desires to engage in this sort of behavior. Once this behavior is embraced, “faith” is abandoned. When faith, that is a lifestyle dictated by the word of God, is abandoned, then one becomes disqualified to be a leader or a teacher of faith. Please remember, Paul is using an example from the past to describe for us those in the “last days” who will fall away and lead others astray. So my friend, even though someone may be a leader in a spiritual environment, please test not only the teaching, but the teacher as well. “Are these the words of Jesus?” “Are these the words of scripture?” “Does this teacher live in faith?” “Does this leader live in truth or is their hypocrisy?” “Is there a manifestation of the power of the Holy Spirit in his/her life?” Test…
