10 Books that have Stuck with Me. Thanks Gail Katz Dukas for the invitation. 1. Voyage of the Dawn Treader (Chronicles of Narnia), by C.S. Lewis. Nobody writes better than him. 2. Zorba the Greek, by Nikos Kazantzakis. I like the movie too. 3. One Hundred Years of Solitude, by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. If I could choose one writer to write like, it would be GGM. 4. The Decline and Fall of Practically Everybody, by Will Cuppy, but anything by him is great. Some days, when I write, I have to consciously try not to imitate Will Cuppy. It’s hard, man…. 5. The Lorax, by Dr. Seuss. My nominee for the best book ever published. 6. Illusions, by Richard Bach. I can’t reread it out of fear that I will hate it as a grown-up. It made perfect sense to me as a teenager, though. 7. Cat’s Cradle, to arbitrarily pick one from Kurt Vonnegut. 8. The Moon by Whale Light, by Diane Ackerman. Again, tough to pick one, or even remember the difference between all her excellent books. 9. The Book of Laughter and Forgetting, by Milan Kundera. At least, I think that was my favorite of his. Its been a while.... 10. The Twits, by Roald Dahl. Okay, I admit it, this is my favorite book! If youd like to play, consider yourself tagged! But Ill have to admit extreme curiosity about the lists of Tom Ahern, Bruce Feist, Erica Kates, George Howard, Shane Adams, and Emily Jones. And others....
