10) FOOTBALL FIELDS AND A NATIONAL ALL YEAR COMPETITION We keep on saying land of the free by the Caribbean Sea; too many times we tend to forget that in Central America we have some of the most beautiful golden opportunities available to us in the areas of foot ball and boxing. Look at how much Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala have invested in these super international games or pass time. As Belize sits in the basin between these three (3) major players in our region and after 31 years what have we learned from them? We need to tap into this cash cow before it’s too late. We need to set up a national all year competition, in all cities, towns, and villages. Let’s say it starts about February and goes on up to about November just before the Christmas season. We can invite other teams from both Central America and the Caribbean to kick start our competitions with a marathon. Just think of all the foreign exchange that will bring into our economy just in the opening, not to mention the level it would raise our ball players to and the amount of scouts it would attract to our country. Before too long we will be able to set up a football academy in Belize and have football as a career sport.
