10 y/o Keith was diagnosed with DiGeorge Syndrome, now commonly - TopicsExpress

10 y/o Keith was diagnosed with DiGeorge Syndrome, now commonly known as 22q Deletion Syndrome. The missing section of chromosome 22 can have multiple symptoms, and Keith has been challenged in his immune system, heart, speech and through developmental delays. Still, like his Transformers hero Bumblebee (everyone in the family has a Transformers name), this strong guy battles through it with a big heart and help from Nationwide Childrens Hospital. Keith recently became an uncle and true to Bumblebee’s protective, loving personality, he sees/talks/plays with niece Kendall every day. Mom tells us that he likes to do “boy stuff” like playing soccer, bowling or games of tag with his friends at school … which apparently means most of the kids at school! “Keith knows everyone in the school, and when you go down the hallway with him all you hear is ‘hi Keith’ from everyone that goes by,” she said. With Optimus Prime (dad) and Ratchet (mom) by his side, Keith is taking his 1st miracle flight to Ohio for his 19th surgery; this time to repair his pharyngeal flap. And we wanted to send our thoughts and prayers to this Transformers family for a safe flight, successful surgery, and quick recovery.
