10 years ago, I fractured both the radius and ulna of my right arm; my strong dominant hand. A couple months after, I came out of the hospital with two metal rods extending from my wrist to my elbow. A few weeks before removable, I did something that twisted the metal and my arm that prevented it from being removed. This scared me physically and mentally because I had thought I wasnt going to be the same anymore. I was scared that basketball, surfing, lifting weights, and even playing video game were going to be things of the past. Now, at 25, the compound fracture doesnt seem like it ever happened. Im stronger than before and my arm doesnt feel any different. The only bad side: my arm turns cold faster, i cant bend my thumb correctly, and my wrist doesnt bend that far back. This event taught me one thing: to work on weakness. Because sooner or later, it will become your strength.
