10 years ago, I went to a happy hardcore rave at the opera house with one headliner from the UK. It cost 40 bucks. 800 people went. That guy made money for the tons of hours he put into making it happen. Last week we threw a happy hardcore rave at the opera house with five acts from the UK. Thanks to inflation,the flights have gotten more expensive, the venue is more expensive, the lighting is more expensive, the supplies are more expensive. The ticket price? 40 bucks. We had dozens of volunteers put in a ton of time to make it happen. In exchange they got some very heartfelt thank yous and a couple IOUs. Hard truth, Toronto - if you want more raves, you have to put your money where your mouth is. Its ludicrous that it costs the same now that it did 10 years ago. Literally everything else costs more - even gas, cheap as it may be lately. This is not a complaint - just giving you some perspective based on behind the scenes view. :)
