10 years ago today I lost a great man in my life, one of the greatest men to walk this earth. He was the best grandfather I could have ever asked for. We watched Gunsmoke, Tiger Woods, bowling, and just about every John Wayne movie ever made. He used to pretend to be asleep while I sneakily painted his nails a shimmering blue. He used to give me rides on his scooter and we would drive across the street of the Mobile home park and get a foot long hot dog and an ice cream. I always got chocolate and he loved black raspberry. Theres not a day that goes by where I dont miss you Grampa. Every year today is the hardest day for me, because I cant just let it go. I love you, and miss everything about you. All I can do now is hope that I can become the young woman you would be proud of. I remember they said you werent going to make it to see Christmas of 03, and you made it all the way to April 22, 2004. Just 3 days shy of my 10th birthday. I know you were fighting to see me through one more birthday. I know it in my heart. I love you Grampa, thank you for blessing me with the time we had together. I will continue to strive and be the best that I can be, to make you proud. I love you and I miss you Grampa. I cant wait to meet you again and tell you of all Ive overcome. But between now and then until I see you again Ill be loving you. Love, me.
