11 Blessed be ye, when men shall curse you, and shall pursue you [and pursue you], and shall say all evil against you lying, for me. 12 Joy ye, and be ye glad [full out], for your meed is plenteous in heavens; for so they have pursued the prophets also that were before you. 13 Ye be salt of the earth; that if the salt [shall] vanish away, wherein shall it be salted? To nothing it is worth over, but that it be cast out, and be defouled of men. 14 Ye be [the] light of the world; a city set on an hill may not be hid; (Wycliffe Translation) The Salt of the Earth are the believers of the Lord and when the earth or the place where they are looses them. it becomes useless and it is trodden by men. Carthage is the perfect example of what became of it when it destroyed all the children of the Kingdom of God! The word Salt in the verse is preached as good works of the Christian Believers. This is not so. When you read the verse in the context to the earlier verse and the latter verse. The Lord clearly speaks about the persecution that his children would undergo in this world and His curse. and how they would shine in the works of the father. The Wycliffe translation gives a clear meaning of the verse 13. If the salt from the earth vanishes or looses it, where can it be salted with again but to be cast down and trodden. https://facebook/photo.php?v=1438914639711507
