#11 Film: Tales of the Crypt: The Demon Knight Year: 1995 Director: Ernest R. Dickerson Rotten Tomatoes Rating: 32% Straight from the Tales from the Crypt series, The Demon Knight was the series first tale to be a theatrical feature film release. Director of the film Juice, Ernest R. Dickerson, took on the challenge of taking this interesting tale of demons relentlessly chasing down angels, and still add his own modern style of directing and screenplay. Playing as the Collector, actor Billy Zane puts on an excellent performance as he plays a confident and articulated villain; Hinting early on that his role as a demon knight is no joke, as he cleverly kills those who stand in his way. Some of you may know Zane as that douchebag in the Titanic, nuff said. Because of the limitations of CGI in the 90s, smart horror films were still using prosthetics and heavy make-up to have some realistic monsters. In The Demon Knight, we have some crazy-looking hell spawns with incredible detail. This is Tales From the Crypt after all, we can expect this sort of detail and love put into their first feature. Most of the reviews were negative for The Demon Knight due to the lack of an interesting story. Sure the performance of the actors were present, and the insane amount of detail was prevalent, but the storyline runs off track by the end of the film. You can find this movie on Netflix, if you feel like its worth checking out.
