11th Chapter, Day 23: EleFan: For the love of elephants (and other giant animals) Yes, this WAS a Bless-ed week-end! It was also a Bourbon & Burlesque week-end! Oh, yes! At the Contemporary Arts Center (CAC) on Camp Street, Dickie Brennan’s Bourbon House sponsored the fundraiser, on Saturday night. Home of the New Orleans Bourbon Society (NOBS), Bourbon House provide lots of wonderful tastes, from pulled pork and raw oysters, to fish tacos to mini-pastries and bourbon truffles. There also were myriad mini bourbon-based cocktails, which were fun and fabulous! For NOBS members (yes, I am one!), there was a little “speakeasy,” where a dozen bourbons were available for tasting, ranging in proof from 80 to 100+. The burlesque shows were great fun. I wish I had lived during the burlesque heyday. I think I could’ve been a good burlesque queen…LOL The performers in these shows did not have perfect bodies by any means, but they showed them off and you could see that they were really enjoying themselves. I’m going to get to the House of Blues for a full-length burlesque show one of these days. Lawd, I LOVE New Orleans!!!!
