12-13 September – Maui/Melbourne – Day 72 Daniel & Garry - TopicsExpress

12-13 September – Maui/Melbourne – Day 72 Daniel & Garry World Adventure We work at 4:15am for our very long 16-hour travel day. Starting with a 5am shuttle to the Maui Airport, then a 30-minute flight from Maui to Honolulu for our 12-hour connecting flight to Melbourne. Garry was feeling sad, if not a bit depressed, that our adventure was coming to a close and especially about leaving Hawaii. Daniel was looking forward to getting home and having his coffee. At the Maui airport we had café lattes and shared a chocolate croissant. On the JetStar flight to Melbourne, Daniel had one of his favorites - SaraLee pound cake sharing 4 slices so yum! Our flight seemed especially long with no in-seat video, Garry worked on our stories, we played cards, Daniel watched videos on his laptop and both were able to get a bit of sleep. We arrived home to 15 degrees C, quite the shock from 30 degrees in Maui. Garry feels like our adventure went by so quickly, much quicker than the 10 plus weeks we were away. Being back in Melbourne seems like we’ve been away for so much longer than 10 weeks. When we got home we did some unpacking and went to the supermarket to get sliced chicken, cheese and bread to make sandwiches and some other essentials. We changed the bed linens and watched a couple episodes of “The Last Ship” while we had our dinner. Given the long travel day and time difference we went to bed early only to realize when we woke this morning we had left our scarfs at the Makena Resort in Maui. Overall, we had a most amazing adventure of a lifetime that will profoundly change both our lives forever. Pros - Getting home safely with quiet and uneventful flights and no screaming kids - Free food from JetStar including Saralee pound cake and travel bags as gifts - The most amazing adventure of a lifetime including the people we met, that will profoundly change both our lives Cons - Reality of being back home to laundry, house cleaning and eventually having to go back to work
